Skill # 4 – Caring for Your Body

“One last potential barrier to consider is a religious one. I don’t know too much about your faith background,” said Dr. Chang, “but I have found that some faith groups adhere to the idea that only spiritual things matter so they forget about the physical realm. They rationalize that they are going to die no matter what, so why worry about caring for their bodies in the meantime?

“It’s true,” Dr. Chang continued, “In the grand scheme of things, we’re not going to be around here very long anyway. From an eternal, spiritual perspective, the Bible says we’ll get new, completely restored bodies in heaven. My thought, though, is that we honor God by taking care of the bodies He’s given us. It’s a way we can be good stewards. Plus, if we take care of the body we have now, we’ll enjoy day-to-day life even more.”
